A former high school volleyball coach and substitute teacher was sentenced Monday to six months in jail.

Christopher MacArthur from Claverack will also be on probation for 10 years. He also has to register as a sex offender.

MacArthur pleaded guilty in June to criminal sex act and tampering with a witness.

He had a sexual relationship with a student under the age of 17 and then while he was being investigated contacted the student and tried to set up a meeting, despite an order of protection.
