Funeral held for East Durham fire victims

The funeral for a family lost in last week's East Durham fire was being held Monday.

The fire ripped through the home on State Route 145, killing the three Mammano children and their grandparents. The children's father remains hospitalized.

The Cairo-Durham Elementary was closed Monday for a superintendent's conference day. The middle and high schools had a one-hour delay. 

A procession began at 9:45 a.m. with the funeral service held at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Knock Shrine in East Durham, where the vigil was held for the family last week. A private burial followed.
