POULTNEY, Vt. - It was an emotional afternoon in Vermont on Thursday, as family, friends and classmates remembered an Albany student who apparently drowned this week in a river behind the Green Mountain College Campus.

A memorial was held for 20-year-old Fuquan Ford. He graduated from Green Tech, where he played on the basketball team.

Vermont State Police say they found him unresponsive Monday in the Poultney River. Troopers attempted CPR, but couldn't revive him.

Ford's mother says she wants to start a foundation in her son's honor, to teach kids how to swim.
