Gaming Commission approves draft regulations bringing NY one step closer to legal sports gambling

New York is one step closer to legalized sports gambling.

The state Gaming Commission has approved draft regulations, allowing the state's private casinos to take bets on sports -- as long as the bets are done in person. No mobile wagering would be allowed for now, because that requires a constitutional amendment.

There will be a 60-day public comment period on the issue before anything goes further.
