Man dies in Cobleskill motorcycle accident

A 57-year-old Cobleskill man is dead after he was hit by a car while riding his motorcycle.

Cobleskill police say it happened around 1 p.m. Friday at the intersection of North Grand and Elm streets.

Police say a 17-year-old from Cobleskill made a left turn onto Elm Street, failing to yield the right-of-way to a motorcycle being driven on North Grand Street by Gary Collins.

They say Collins was unable to avoid the car and he struck the passenger side of it.

Collins was flown to Albany Medical Center where he later died from his injuries.

Authorities say the 17-year-old was issued a ticket. Police say drugs and alcohol were not factors
