The governor says he wants lawmakers in Albany to tweak the New York State flag.

Last week during his State of the State address, he talked about adding the Latin phrase "e pluribus unum." The phrase means "out of many, one."

The words appeared on the first seal of the United States of America, and Cuomo says it's something the federal government seems to have forgotten that founding principle over the years.

If approved, the wording would be added toward the bottom center of the flag.
