New measures are being announced in the fight against gun violence. Gov. Hochul says New York is investing $6.2 million to expand community and hospital-based gun violence intervention programs in cities experiencing significant increases in shootings.

Troy and Albany are among the cities that are expected to receive funding.

Nearly $2 million are being spent for 23 positions serving hospitals in seven cities, including Albany.

The money will also add staff at many organizations, including SNUG. Trinity Alliance in Albany is getting $311,000 to add six new positions. Trinity Alliance in Troy will be adding one position with $42,000.

The funding comes just two weeks after New York signed into law the nation's toughest restrictions on ghost guns.
