ALBANY - There was a huge volunteer effort inside St. Sophia's Greek Orthodox Church on Saturday for the 13th Annual Day of Simple Giving.

Volunteers helped with prepping and packaging toiletries, tube socks, personal care kits, dish soap, and even some sweet treats like cookies.

The hundreds of volunteers helped a local organization called the Grassroot Givers, connecting those in need with local, shared resources.

The co-directors of Grassroot Givers say the items will be donated to 50 different organizations in the Capital District.

Hear from the volunteers about the satisfaction they get from helping others, by watching the video of Jill Konopka's story.
