'Great Train Extravaganza' chugs into Empire State Plaza

ALBANY - "The Great Train Extravaganza" took place at the Empire State Plaza on Sunday.

There were more than 200 tables with model trains, train sets and railroad memorabilia.

Organizers hope they've captured the imagination of some young Capital Region residents.

"I used to always come to train shows as a kid and these kinds of shows have really helped me enjoy the hobby, so it's kind of my turn to give back and bring it to other kids as well," explained Richard Smith, chairman of the event.

Organizers say with some of the money raised from the event, they will buy train sets to donate to Toys for Tots.
