GREEN ISLAND - Carmine Casale was surprised to see even more snow had piled up overnight.

"I did a couple of feet [Monday], come out, had everything cleaned up, ready to pull out and I looked and said 'Oh, my!'  I got to do it all over again. But there were people all over the place and we were all helping each other," said Casale.

First comes an alert that plows are on the way.

Next are the tow trucks that remove the cars that are still on the street.

NewsChannel 13 saw cars buried deep in snow.

Now it's time for the plows, and they had their work cut out for them after this snowstorm.

"Typically, we do one or two or maybe three passes on a normal snow removal," said DPW Commissioner Tony Cesare. "Today it's four or five or six to really get it back."

Teams of firefighters tackle the hydrants, digging them out to make them visible and accessible.

Contractors come in to do the street corners and remove piles of snow.

"It's a lot better for everybody to get it done in one day," said Executive Assistant to the Mayor Sean Ward. "It makes it a lot more efficient and easier for the residents to park. More importantly, emergency vehicles are able to pass through every street in Green Island if the need arises."

"As you can see, the street is all clear. Maybe one or two cars, but they're ready to pull out as soon as they come and tell us we got to move. What an awesome job they do. We have the fire department, just in case anyone gets out of line!" said Casale, with a laugh. "Everything is good!"
