Gunfire leaves Troy residents outraged

TROY - Residents in a Troy neighborhood are outraged after gunfire left bullet holes in the side of an apartment.

Neighbors heard shots about 10:30 Sunday night. One woman thought at first it might be firecrackers from the holiday weekend. However, her husband realized they were gunshots. He said the targeted apartment had long been a trouble spot.

Troy police got a call Sunday night for the gunfire on 3rd Avenue around 105th Street. Neighbors say they heard gunshots one after the other, very quick – maybe five in all.

Luckily, police say they don't believe anyone was hurt in the gunfire. However, they say they found shell casings. There are bullet holes around the upstairs apartment at 260 3rd Avenue. Three men there did not want to speak with NewsChannel 13, but neighbors had plenty to say. They say they're afraid for the young kids in the area, and any bystander who could get hit.

Several people said the gunfire there is related to shots fired last month at 124th and 4th that left bullet holes in the window there. Police would not comment on that.

The neighbors say the newly-renovated building with – they say, brand new tenants, has long been a trouble spot for the neighborhood – and they're sick of it.

Some neighbors say that others in the neighborhood have already shared their surveillance video with police.
