It was the home of General Philip Schuyler and in 1780, his daughter Eliza married Alexander Hamilton in the mansion.

On Thursday, the museum hosted its annual Independence Day open house.

“This is actually year three of increased visitation. When Hamilton was still off Broadway, we started seeing the numbers rise then,” said Museum Educator, Michelle Mavigliano.

“Today, with it coming to Proctors, we are pretty much through the roof. We have seen triple the numbers.”

Tours of the Schuyler Mansion are available Wednesday through Sunday beginning at 10 a.m.
