SCHENECTADY - "Hamilton"-fever is sweeping across Schenectady. The Tony Award-winning show made its premiere at Proctors on Tuesday.
Proctors announced the "Hamilton" tour two years ago and the Capital District audience went wild with excitement. NewsChannel 13 even saw the line circle the block when lottery tickets were being given out.
Now, people were waiting on line for a different reason and it all has to do with security.
Audience members were asked to leave their purses and bags behind - either at home or in their car and bring a clear 12 x 12 x 6 Ziploc bag for their personal items. This was at the request of "Hamilton" producers who want to "provide a safer environment for the public."

According to Michael Eck with Proctors, the theatre has implemented the clear bag ask before when Vice President Joe Biden was here and when Ariana Grande performed.
Generally, people didn't seem too bothered by it. They're more excited to watch the musical which follows the story of one of America's founding fathers, Alexander Hamilton.

Tickets are still available, they range from $135 to $449 dollars but there is also a digital lottery. Four tickets will be offered for each show for sale for a "Hamilton", a $10 dollar bill.
