NISKAYUNA - Harry Noyes turned 90 on Thursday. On Friday, he was back to work meticulously stocking the dairy department at the Niskayuna Co-op.

"Being around here, seeing the people,” are what Noyes said he enjoys the most. “People remember me from being back here before. So I get along with very good with almost anybody, no problem.”

His friendly nature is just one of the many reasons his co-workers took time out on Friday afternoon to celebrate him with a birthday cake and song. Noyes has been an employee at the Co-op since retiring from a long career with Freihofer's in 1986. In the crowd for the party was former Co-op General Manager Don Bisgrove.

"Every day, I would see him come in way after on his own time to straighten out the bread and make sure it was good and I said, 'If you ever retire I got a job for you,'" said Bisgrove.

Noyes started out at the Co-op as an assistant manager and tried to retire again at age 65. Bisgrove convinced him to stay on part-time. He left for several years after his wife became ill but came back again in 2017 when she passed away.

For now, Noyes works every Tuesday and Friday and doesn't plan on slowing down any time soon.

"Retirement is excellent. I agree with it. But there's one thing. You got to have a job, or a hobby," said Noyes.
