HOOSICK FALLS – It's a double-scary session for Halloween. Wednesday night is the annual parade and Thursday is, of course, Halloween.
For the past 16 years, at the corner of Main & Hall Streets (not far from Elm St.) is the creepiest corner in the village. That's where you'll find the "Hoosick Scream House." They plan all year, spend a month or so setting up and then it's all scares on deck for hundreds of visitors.
"It grew into a mild obsession,” said homeowner Jen Burt. “It's been about 16 years growing and it has taken on a life of its own in the community."
Besides all the decoration and animatronics, they tape off the sidewalk and even drape a scare on the One Way sign. Additionally, they take monetary donations for the food pantries in Hoosick Falls and Cambridge and draw trick-or-treaters from Bennington, VT and Lee, MA.
"We take donations and people give us spare change in their pockets and we collect money for a good cause,” Burt said.
