Health Beat: Lyme disease

The Centers for Disease Control says some 30,000 cases of Lyme disease are reported annually by state health departments. However, it also notes that's probably not a full or accurate picture of the impact of this disease as many more people are probably infected.

There are those who are treated but never fully recover.

Holly Ahern is an assistant professor of microbiology at Adirondack Community College. She's also the mother of a child who endured the problems Lyme can bring and she's an activist in the Lyme community.
