Heavy rain makes for a soggy morning commute

Heavy rain drenched the area early Tuesday morning, making for a treacherous and soggy morning commute in spots.
Most of the flood advisories in effect for the Capital Region early Tuesday morning have been dropped.
The rain was part of the remnants of Hurricane Florence, which pounded parts of the Carolinas with feet of rain in the past few days.
One area that always seems flood in a heavy rain is Western Avenue near Stuyvesant Plaza. This was no exception.
Both EB & WB lanes #WesternAve @guilderlandpd reopened now after #Florence #flooding this morning. @NYSDOT #Guilderland Supervisor Peter Barber says this stretch used to close 3x/yr before reservoir expansion in 2010. 6x overall since then. @WNYT at noon. pic.twitter.com/2AngrSvSMj— John Craig (@JohnCraigWNYT) September 18, 2018
