Holocaust survivor visits Woodland Hill Montessori School

June 12, 2019 06:59 AM

This is a rare opportunity for students, nowadays. Middle schoolers at a school in Rensselaer County will be hearing from a Holocaust survivor, Wednesday afternoon.

Ruth Mendel will be talking about her experience to kids at Woodland Hill Montessori School. 80 years ago, in 1939, Mendel's family lived in Luxembourg. The Jewish family fled the country once Nazi occupation started.

Our media partners at the Post Star report she lives in Delmar now. She's been speaking at schools around the area.

After her 40-minute talk, students will be able to ask questions.
