Home Depot's corporate offices say it came after they took another look at the situation.

Maurice Rucker, 60, told NewsChannel 13 that last Thursday a customer started firing f-bombs at him and making racist comments. Rucker told the man to leave and that he was lucky he was at work. Rucker was later fired for not letting a manager handle it.

He worked for Home Depot for 10 years and was making less than $13 an hour.

Before Home Depot had its change of heart, NewsChannel 13's Jerry Gretzinger asked if he would consider going back to work for them.

"No, it wouldn't be for me," he said.

Jerry reached out to Rucker to see if he's heard from the company yet. We're waiting to hear back from him.

A lot of people on social media are asking Lowe's to hire Maurice.

At least two GoFundMe pages have also been set up.
