GUILDERLAND - Hundreds of people hit the lanes Sunday to help local children.
The annual event "Bowl for Kids' Sake" put on by SEFCU raises money for Big Brothers, Big Sisters of the Capital Region.
More than 200 credit union employees and their families took part at Westlawn Lanes in Guilderland. Organizers say it's more important than ever to support the Big Brothers, Big Sisters program.
“The program is tried and true,” said SEFCU President & CEO Michael Castellana. “When you look at the stats for these kids, lower delinquency rates, lower incidents with drugs, higher grades. This program works. The only thing missing is funding and volunteers.”
This year was the 25th anniversary of the event. To honor that milestone, SEFCU awarded Big Brothers, Big Sisters a special $25,000 gift.
