Investigators say man had thousands of untaxed cigars

State investigators in Schenectady confiscated 7,400 untaxed cigars and made an arrest. 

State Department of Taxation and Finance investigators arrested 31-year-old Rafat Alshegaa from Rensselaerville. They saw him delivering unmarked cardboard boxes to retail stores.


The investigators say they found the untaxed cigars, along with some untaxed loose tobacco, and $1,100 cash in his van.

He's charged with illegal possession of more than 2,500 untaxed cigars. He's due in city court on Oct. 21.
