Businesswoman, philanthropist Jane Golub dies at 80

Jane Golub, the Capital Region businesswoman and philanthropist, died after a brief illness. She was 80 years old.

Golub was known for her leadership role with the Golub Corporation and Price Chopper. She also worked to fight bullying in schools. Jane and Neil Golub married in 1963. She taught in the Niskayuna School District for more than 20 years.

Niskayuna Town Board Member Denise Murphy McGraw said, "The Town of Niskayuna and the Capital Region have lost an icon. Few women have done more for our community than Jane Golub. Her civic leadership was inspirational. In gratitude for her tireless and selfless efforts, I have requested our Niskayuna Town Hall flags be lowered to half staff.”

Golub's service will be Tuesday, April 23 at 10:30 a.m. at Congregation Gates of Heaven, 852 Ashmore Ave. in Schenectady.
