Jerry Gretzinger joined the NewsChannel 13 team in September 2017 and anchors Live at 4 with Benita Zahn and the 5:30 newscast with Elaine Houston. No stranger to the Capital Region, Jerry was a longtime anchor and reporter for WRGB in Schenectady before taking a brief hiatus from news.  He has worked for television stations throughout the Northeast including stops in Providence, Rhode Island; Springfield, Massachusetts; and Wappingers Falls, New York. He is an award winning anchor and reporter and has been recognized by the Associated Press in New York and New England and the New York State Broadcasters Association. He is a two-time Emmy nominee. He has traveled the world to bring stories home and is thrilled to now be on the anchor desk for NewsChannel 13.

Viewers have come to know Jerry for his style of storytelling and “good news” reports that feature the people who make our communities great. He believes there’s more good than bad happening around us and that it’s important to provide a proper balance in the news. If you have an inspiring, uplifting or unique and entertaining story to tell, Jerry would love to hear about it.

Jerry grew up in Kingston, New York (the first Capital of New York State) and received his Bachelor of Arts from Marist College in Poughkeepsie. He lives in Saratoga County with his wife Erin and their five children, two dogs, cat and fish. He enjoys running, tennis, basketball, cooking and baking, DIY projects, cruising and attending and participating in theater.  When he's not on the air, Jerry can often be spotted around the region crooning a tune in one of his Frank Sinatra or Rat Pack revues or alongside and his 4:00 co-anchor in one of their touring “Singing Anchors” shows.
