It's an update to a story NewsChannel 13 exclusively broke on Tuesday.

We now know the "where" and "when" about the sealed indictment.

The sealed envelope delivered to the courthouse on Monday will be opened one week from Friday, December 1, at 1 p.m.

What about the "why?"

We know that Schneiderman is exercising his authority over local district attorneys to look into deadly confrontations between police and civilians.

Schneiderman's grand jury has been looking into the Edson Thevenin case. He's the local motorist shot and killed by a Troy police officer during a car chase in March 2016.

After a county grand jury cleared the officer in less than a week, Schneiderman picked up the ball and ran with it to his own grand jury.

Now we wait to see whose name(s) appear on the indictment. We wait to see what, if any crimes, are alleged in the indictment.

Many rumors have been floating around the courthouse. NewsChannel 13 has been trying tirelessly to confirm them. When we do, we will report it on-air or online.

The district attorney's office closed at 1 p.m. on Wednesday. The staff worked a half-day, the day before Thanksgiving.

NewsChannel 13 is told Joel Abelove, one of the presumed targets of that grand jury investigation, was not at the office on Wednesday.
