A deputy police chief at the SUNY System Plaza in Albany is facing child pornography charges.

State police say 28-year-old Joel Archambault of North Greenbush downloaded and disseminated child porn.

Police say he was caught after a tip received by the New York State Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and taken into custody after they executed a search warrant at his home.

Archambault is also a part-time police officer in Whitehall.

He is now out on his own recognizance and is due back in North Greenbush Town Court on Oct. 29.

SUNY released the following statement on Archambault's arrest:

"We are all deeply disturbed by the alleged crime committed by a SUNY officer. While the criminal investigation is ongoing by the State Police, the officer has been suspended, and if he is found to have violated any law or policy we will pursue immediate termination. We will continue to provide a secure and safe environment for faculty, staff, and students."
