Whitehall man killed while kayaking

A man is dead after a kayaking outing on the Mettawee River.

NewsChannel 13's media partners at The Post-Star report Joel Perkins was found unconscious in the water Thursday afternoon.


Police say Perkins got in the water ahead of his friends. When they caught up to his boat, he was in the water unconscious. No one saw him go into the water.

Police say Perkins was not wearing a life jacket.
