Jury debates fate of prominent autobody shop owner after serious DWI accident

The trial of a local businessman accused of driving drunk and seriously injuring a passenger is now in the hands of a Saratoga County jury.

Police say John Cole was drunk and speeding when he lost control of his car and hit a tree in Halfmoon last year.


Deanna Shapiro, 49, was a passenger in the car. She suffered a spinal cord injury that left her paralyzed from the shoulders down.

The Clifton Park man is the owner of Cole's Collision Centers.
