The state Department of Corrections says they've received a court order to keep John Regan behind bars after his prison term expires on Friday.

This confirms what sources told Mark Mulholland Tuesday, that the state is seeking to civilly confine the convicted attempted kidnapper and sex offender.

Regan tried to kidnap a Saratoga Springs girl on Halloween 2005 and raped a Connecticut woman in 1993.

His 12-year sentence is up Friday, but the state Department of Corrections says that he will remain behind bars.
