A Sharon Springs man has admitted to planning to rape a 14-year-old girl in Colonie. However, the "girl" was actually an undercover cop.

Jonathan Mattice, 42, faces up to four years in prison with up to 10 years of parole supervision when he's sentenced in January.

Police say he met the "girl" online, discussed several sexual acts with her via text, and then tried to meet her when her mother wasn't around.

Once Mattice is free, he must also register as a sex offender.
