Two men charged after crash with trooper car in Guilderland

GUILDERLAND - State police charged two men after a troop car was hit from behind while sitting at a red light in Guilderland.

It happened Monday evening on Western Avenue at the intersection with Schoolhouse Road.

Police say 21-year-old Joshua Maxwell-Tew, sideswiped the troop car with his Ford Fusion. Troopers charged him with driving while ability impaired by drugs. They also say they found Xanax in the car.

He and the passenger, 20-year-old Zachary Bemis, were charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance.

The trooper was not hurt.
