Gonyea was charged with caring for the 95-year-old Twiss, who suffered from dementia. He will be sentenced next month to 15 years to life in prison, which is better than 22 to life first offered by prosecutors.

Gonyea's attorney said his client took his grandmother's life because he didn't want to see her suffer any longer.

The guilty plea represents a change of heart for Gonyea, who maintained all along that he loved his grandmother and would never hurt her.
