September 12, 2019 06:11 PM

A Rensselaer woman is facing charges for trying to rent out a house she doesn't own.

Police say at least nine people contacted 41-year-old Kimberly Rogers looking to rent the home on Lindenbergh Avenue, which she advertised online.

Police say Rogers told potential renters she was in the process of purchasing the house. She said she wanted to have renters lined up to move in when the sale went through.

She collected security deposits, but never delivered the place to stay.

Police are still investigating just how much she stole and they think there might be other fake locations.

Rogers is facing fraud and grand larceny charges. Police say they expect to add more charges as their investigation continues.
