LAKE GEORGE - The village of Lake George has netted a boatload of federal money to upgrade its failing sewage treatment plant.

Lake George will get $500,000. Last year, it was revealed the village's wastewater treatment facility was releasing harmful nitrates into the lake, jeopardizing its health and tourism.

NewsChannel 13 was there in April when Senator Chuck Schumer came to town to announce he was pushing for the funding.

The money will help Lake George build a state of the art treatment plant that will protect the lake's water quality and be able to accommodate the tens of thousands of people who visit the "Queen of American Lakes" every year.
