June 18, 2019 10:06 PM

LANSINGBURGH-  Residents of the Lansingburgh Central School District have approved a 50 million budget for the 2019-2020 school year.

The initial proposal was rejected by district residents. The version required super majority voter approval. With only 390 voting yes (compared to the 284 who voted no), it did not meet the 60% minimum.

With the revised budget, it represents a -1.27% decrease in spending from 2018-2019 and carried a 0.46% tax levy increase, which meets the district's allowable New York State tax cap. Since it did not exceed the tax cap, the revised budget required a normal majority vote.

551 voted yes, 227 opposed.
