While one trooper talked to the man, identified as 41-year-old Luke Patterson of Tannersville, another trooper drove next to them.

Troopers say Patterson did not comply with their commands and made a move towards the troop car.

One of the troopers then fired his or her weapon at Patterson. He eventually died.

Anyone who might have seen the incident is asked to call state police.
