September 26, 2018 05:20 PM

MALTA - A groundbreaking Wednesday at the Luther Forest Tech Park means more power for the people.

Key Capture Energy is building a 20-megawatt lithium ion battery storage project on a wooded lot off Substation Road at the tech park. That's the largest project of its kind in the state.

The project will create 25 construction jobs and nine full-time positions.

Company officials say having a battery back-up like this is a step forward in promoting clean energy availability in times of high demand or low supply.

The battery storage facility is expected to come online at the end of January.
