Man critically injured while in custody of Saratoga Springs police dies

A man who was critically injured while in the custody of the Saratoga Springs Police Department has died.

Police are not identifying him, but his friend and an attorney for his family reached out to NewsChannel 13's Mark Mulholland on Thursday to let us know Justin Garrison passed away.

Sources told Mark that Garrison tried to take his own life while in the police holding cell.

He was being detained on an alleged parole violation related to a big fight Saturday morning on Kaydeross Avenue West.

Police will only acknowledge there was a medical emergency.
