A woman accused of stealing $30,000 from a friend is going to jail. Marla Kellert, 63, will spend six months in Albany County Jail beginning Thursday.

Back in August, Kellert took a plea deal admitting to stealing $30,000 from Blake Kirk, a longtime friend who lives in Loudonville.

NewsChannel 13 is told Kellert's husband was a realtor, so she would often go to open houses and meet people there. She also looked after people's pets. While she was caring for the animals, Kellert would steal jewelry and cash.

Kellert only pled guilty to one count of felony grand larceny because only Kirk could prove she had stolen from him.

However, other people that spoke to NewsChannel 13 after the sentencing on Thursday are alleging they were also victims of Kellert.

Mary Ann Cooper says Kellert stole thousands in cash and jewelry over the course of several years.

Cooper says she knew Kellert and her husband, Billy, for over 40 years.

Cooper said she had a case with the Guilderland Police Department and she believes her naming Kellert as a possible suspect led to police connecting the dots in Kirk's case and maybe others. Unfortunately, many of them can't prove Kellert stole from them.

NewsChannel 13’s Emily Burkhard is following this story. Hear more of what Cooper had to say on and our newscasts starting Live at 4.
