When the next Marvel Studios movie debuts on the big screen, we might get a glimpse what Albany, New York looks like in the superhero cinematic universe.

"Black Widow," starring Scarlett Johansson, filmed all over the world. Although no filming was done in the Capital Region, apparently scenes shot in Macon, Georgia take place in Albany, New York. WHAZ reported in September that a Marvel production believed to be "Black Widow" was filming at Macon's Terminal Station. A number of emergency vehicles were used in the filming – including police cars labeled "Albany" and a large SWAT vehicle with an Albany County Sheriff's Department logo.

This isn't Albany's first connection to Marvel. Scenes for the Netflix series "The Punisher" were filmed in Albany in 2018. However, in this case the Albany shots were supposed to represent New York City.

"Black Widow" is the first solo adventure for the former KGB assassin turned Avenger. It opens in theaters on May 1, 2020.
