September 30, 2019 07:04 AM

Each year, thousands of lives are saved by organ, eye and tissue donation.

At the Desmond Hotel in Colonie, the Sight Society of Northeastern New York honored those who have given the gift of sight.

More than 200 donor family members attended the memorial service.

Right now, more than 10,000 New Yorkers are waiting for organ transplants, and tens of thousands more are in need of eye or tissue transplants.
