SCHENECTADY - Before there were all those dancing shows on TV, there was a local mom and daughter teaching kids to dance. They have former students all over the country putting what they learned at Merritt Dance Center in motion.

The new season at Merritt Dance Center is a new experience for the kids, but for Marlene Merritt, it's been 60 years of teaching.

With her daughter, Mara, they've garnered trophies stacked almost to the ceiling -- testifying to the work they've done teaching kids all forms of dance from tap to jazz.

Their students have gone on to work around the world, from on cruise ships to "America's Got Talent."
