It's only a few days before Halloween, which also means it may be the last time this fall for most local haunted houses. This year the village of Middleburgh has a new one, at a very unusual location.

A group of 25 Middleburgh High School seniors organized their first haunted house inside the school to benefit the graduating class of 2020. They say they've had nothing but support from the school and community.

Students say they've been working to organize the house since this summer. Local businesses donated almost everything they needed to help make the spooky night possible, including a hearse. Students decorated the school all weekend to prepare.

The themed event includes a scary guided tour through school halls that were filled with frightful decorations and student actors. More than a thousand people were expected to go through the tour before the night ends.

The students say it's been a wonderful experience to work on this project with their peers.
