October 18, 2018 07:12 PM

NISKAYUNA - It's now been one week since anyone has seen Niskayuna pre-school teacher Melanie Nasholts. The 45-year old woman disappeared without a trace after leaving work on the afternoon of Friday, October 12.

Now, her family is offering a $1,000 reward to anyone who can help them find Melanie.

The Child Time Day Care Center on Vly Road in Colonie is a bustling day care center on a heavily traveled road. It's where Melanie Nasholts has worked as a pre-school teacher for seven years. When she left work last Friday afternoon, it's as if she vanished into thin air.

"She's just a really loving, caring person," said Melanie's niece, Cyierra Roldan. "She's the type of person that will give somebody the shirt off her back."

Roldan is heartbroken over her aunt's disappearance. She's also puzzled that no one has seen a trace of her aunt's car, a 2009 black Kia Sportage, license plate number DGX-8410.

"We've searched Watervliet, Troy, Albany, Schenectady, Guilderland, Rexford, everywhere," she said. "There's no sight of her car. We've checked parking lots, hotels, hospitals, parking garages, everything."

Ever since Melanie disappeared, Cyierra says not a moment goes by that she doesn't think of her aunt, or think about the likelihood that someone knows something about what happened to her, or when she thinks about finding a new place to look, someplace she hasn't already searched.

"We've been out non-stop, morning, day, and night, praying," Cyierra said. "Just keeping our hope up that she just walks in the front door, that maybe she needed time away. That's the best case scenario, but it's not like her at all. She'd never do something like that to keep us all worried."

Cyierra says she won't rest until her aunt is found.

This coming Saturday, at 10:00 A.M., Cyierra says she and other family members -- along with friends, plan to gather at Central Park in Schenectady and then branch out to continue their search.

Everyone is invited, she says, and any help would be greatly appreciated.
