Moreau beach closed because of algae bloom

Moreau Lake State Park's beach is shut down to swimming because of a harmful algae bloom.

When we went to the beach Tuesday, signs were up telling people to stay out of the water. But people were still in it.

For the beach to reopen, it must be free of any signs of a harmful algae bloom for 24 hours and a water sample must be analyzed.

New York State Parks says the bloom could be harmful to pets. Two dogs died in July in Vermont from consuming toxins from a harmful algae bloom.
