DELMAR -- Two-month-old Legend Alias Stern is one of the youngest confirmed cases of coronavirus.

He tested positive Wednesday for the virus after a doctor advised his mother, Brittany Stern, to bring him to Albany Medical Center.

"I'm still scared, I was really scared when they came in and told me he tested positive," said Brittany. "I kind of knew the way they were acting that he was positive, but, I just kept praying."

The 28-year-old mother credits the power of prayer and incredible medical team fighting for her baby.

One nurse said she was there when Legend was born a preemie.

Legend spent his first two weeks in the neonatal intensive care unit before the unexpected return to be tested for coronavirus.

"He really didn't have a lot of symptoms," said Brittany. "He was just more tired and had a low fever."

Legend is now back home with his mother and siblings, Zylar and Briella.

The entire family hoping they won't have to return to the hospital.

"They don't know this virus yet," said Brittany. "They've never seen someone so young in Albany County with it. He was in respiratory distress, but then somehow he just stopped. He started picking up his oxygen."

The Stern family is now under a mandatory 14-day quarantine.
