New bricks honor more war heroes at Halfmoon memorial

HALFMOON - Three more bricks were added to the walkway in front of the POW/MIA statue in Halfmoon on Friday to mark POW/MIA Recognition Day.

The bricks honor John McCain, Matt Maupin, and Thaddeus Kosciuszko.

All three men were prisoners of war - including Kosciuszko, who fought in the Revolutionary War.

Carol Hotaling, known locally as "The Yellow Ribbon Lady," spearheaded the effort. She also wants to see a national day for troops currently serving.

If you would like to honor an American hero at the memorial in Halfmoon, you can buy memorial bricks for the walkway.
