New bus stop expected to improve pedestrian safety

A new bus stop in Albany is expected to improve pedestrian safety.

The new bus stop shelter is installed in front of the Albany Public Library on Washington Avenue.

The previous stop was cramped and caused issues for buses, drivers and pedestrians.

A new signal and cross-walk is also intended to make it safer to cross the wide stretch between Lark and Dove.

The project cost more than $1 million.

It was paid for by state and federal money.
