That December 2019 order from the governor put Park Police in limbo, with no transfers, no promotions and no new hires, which rank and file members say puts the public in danger.

New York Park Police Patrol the state’s parks – Grafton Lakes, Moreau, Niagara Falls and Saratoga to name a few. At SPAC, they’re the primary agency for policing all the big concerts.

Since 2019, their numbers are dwindling because there have been no new academies held to train new officers. Because there have been no promotions or transfers, officers are leaving for other agencies.

However, something changed on Friday.
