A new study is shedding light on COVID-19's impact on children.
The New York State Department of Health led a study on multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children associated with the coronavirus. Experts at UAlbany also helped in this study.
NewsChannel 13 has been reporting on the inflammatory illness, described as a-typical Kawasaki disease.
The study looked at 99 cases. It concludes the emergence of the condition in the state followed widespread coronavirus transmission and is often associated with cardiac dysfunction.
Of the 99 patients they studied, 36 had a preexisting condition, the most common being obesity.
There were two fatalities.
The study was published in the New England Journal of Medicine.
