New York State Police testing vertical light bars on cruisers

The New York State Police recently modified the light bars on top of their police cruisers.

The cruisers already had horizontal light bars that sat on top of them, but these new lights bars sit horizontally and vertically.

The goal is to make the emergency vehicles more noticeable, especially from a distance.

They hope that makes it easier for you to obey the state's Move Over Law.

For now, troopers are only the light bars to see if they make a difference. They have not said how long they plan on studying the impact.
